Japan Triples Departure Tax and Hikes Visa Fees to Manage Tourism Surge
Japan has tripled its departure tax to 3,000 yen and raised foreign visa fees fivefold, effective July 1, to manage overtourism pressures. The government simultaneously cut passport fees for Japanese nationals.
