The Malaysian government is ramping up its educational infrastructure drive with an ambitious nationwide programme of 524 new classroom projects valued at RM668 million, all designed to serve the Year One intake scheduled for the 2027 academic session. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan unveiled the scope of this initiative during a site handover ceremony at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tok Jembal in Terengganu, where Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek officiated the completion of the first project, which was delivered ahead of its scheduled timeline.

Selangor, Malaysia's most populous state and economic hub, leads the allocations with 143 projects, all of which have secured full Letters of Acceptance. Kedah follows as the second-largest recipient with 93 approved projects, though 92 have currently secured formal acceptance. Johor, the nation's second-largest state by population, has 47 projects with 45 approved to date.

Terengganu accounts for 45 projects—the state where the inaugural completed facility was handed over—with all carrying Letters of Acceptance. Penang holds 30 projects, equally approved. Perak's allocation of 22 projects includes 18 with formal approval, indicating ongoing documentation processes for the remainder. Melaka receives 69 projects, among the higher allocations outside major northern and western states, while Pahang is assigned 50 projects.

Smaller states and federal territories round out the portfolio. Kelantan will receive 10 new classrooms, Perlis eight, while Labuan, Kuala Lumpur, and Negeri Sembilan each have two to three projects approved. These allocations, though modest in absolute numbers, reflect targeted investment in specific demographic pressures and existing capacity gaps within these jurisdictions. The comprehensive geographical spread indicates that the government is distributing resources to address educational facility needs across the entire nation, from metropolitan centres to smaller states.
