During his judgment, the trial judge characterised Najib's conduct as an abuse of the extensive authority he wielded as leader of the nation. The court found that the former premier exploited his position to orchestrate what it described as one of the most significant financial corruption and money laundering operations in global history.

Najib's behaviour in the courtroom reflected a consistent pattern of evading personal accountability. Rather than acknowledge wrongdoing, the former leader systematically attempted to place responsibility on subordinates and circumstances beyond his control.
