Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the nation to prioritise technological advancement through foreign investment and innovation rather than becoming mired in political conflict. Speaking at the PH Grand Rally "Justice for the People of Johor" in Muar on June 15, he stressed that AI and quantum computing represent the future for Malaysia's next generation and must form the cornerstone of government strategy.
Anwar outlined how the administration is actively pursuing these objectives by attracting international capital to establish AI facilities and data centres within the country. His recent visit to Japan included discussions on quantum computing technology, initiatives he believes will position Malaysia as a competitive global player.
The Prime Minister criticised the tendency for political leaders to engage in endless disputes over religious and ethnic issues instead of addressing the nation's development. "If politics is just about fighting day in and day out over Chinese, Malay, Indian, temples, and mosques, just endless bickering, when are we going to take care of this country?" he questioned, appealing to citizens across all communities to collaborate on nation-building.
Anwar emphasised that Malaysia already commands international attention as an investment destination without requiring active campaigning. He urged Malaysians of all backgrounds to unite in elevating the country to greater heights, noting that such collective effort remains achievable despite existing challenges.
As PKR President and PH Chairman, Anwar reminded political leaders and party officials to abandon the exploitation of communal sentiments in favour of constructive governance. He advocated for political engagement rooted in genuine concern for people's welfare and focused on solving real problems rather than stoking divisions. PKR Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa and Johor PH Chairman Aminolhuda Hassan were present at the rally.
